About Flo

Shake your Schnitzel.

Servus, I’m Flo, the guy behind Flo’s German Kitchen. I cook German, film in English, and if something goes wrong in the kitchen, you’ll see it. That’s kind of the point.

My story

Between two worlds, one kitchen.

I grew up in Swabia, and I’ve called Bavaria home for the last 25-plus years, which pretty much makes me a professional between-two-worlds German. My cooking origin story isn’t glamorous: I moved out of my parents‘ place, got sick of frozen pizza, and decided I’d rather cook for myself.

That was 35 years ago. I’m still at it, and I’d like to think I’ve gotten a little better since then.

These days I make videos about the food I grew up with: the classics. Schnitzel, Maultaschen, Spätzle, the whole Swabian lineup that raised me, with the occasional grill session because a good barbecue is basically a religion around here. And I go looking for the regional hidden champions from all over Germany, the ones even a lot of Germans don’t know.

If you forced me to pick a favorite, it’d be Rouladen. Beef rolls, bacon, mustard, the works. I could eat it every week.

It takes a family.

my two cats, supervise everything from a safe distance.

My wife

turns whatever I’ve cooked into the beautifully plated dish at the end of every video.

Prost!

German food, English words, Bavarian beer.

I cook German, film in English, and drink Augustiner Helles almost exclusively. A good guzzle of German beer makes everything taste better.

Wunderbar. Cheers to German cooking.
